I first met President Mikhail Gorbatchev at the time he occupied the important role of head of State. I was immediately struck by his commitment to world peace and his determination to improve the well being of his people.

Thanks to his extensive qualities as a statesman and his visionary approach to world issues, he played an essential role in one of the most profound political transformations of the second half of the twentieth century. The name Mikhail Gorbatchev speaks volumes about hope, change and freedom.

Through his Foundation, Mikhail Gorbatchev continues his tireless work in favour of peace and achieving a better understanding between nations. He is a tireless champion of peace and justice.
