Gorbachev Foundation Humanitarian Aid and Charities:

- DM100,000-worth equipment for a children's hospital in the village of Krasnogvardeyskoye, Stavropol Region;

- a mobile clinic (DM200,000) to a hospital in the village of Krasnoarmeyskoye;

- DM50,000-worth intensive care unit equipment for Stavropol regional hospital;

- medicines, equipment, disposable syringes, food and financial assistance to maternity homes and orphanages;

- surgery equipment and medicines for the Moscow City Hospital No1 (on a permanent basis).

- Material aid was supplied: to war veterans' committees in Moscow and Ufa ($40,000);

- for the development of culture and sports in Russia ($200,000);

- to pay for the athletes' participation in the competitions of disabled athletes ($45,000);

- the Lagutin Physical Fitness and Sports Foundation ($10,000);

- to the Novy Mir Publishing House and magazine ($12,000).

- The Foundation provided humanitarian aid to the children of Chechnya who suffered during the hostilities there and to the refugees from the regions of combat. Ten trailers with clothes, medicines, dressing materials and baby food were dispatched - 500 tons in total. The latest shipment was dispatched in January 2000.

- Together with its Dutch partners the Foundation developed and started implementing its educational program to support Boarding School No15 in Moscow.

- An expensive medicine EPREX ($240,000) was received from CILAG (Switzerland) for the Ryazan Branch of the Russian Institute for Pediatric Hematology. An agreement was made with a small business in Germany on their financial support for two orphanages and one asylum in Moscow. The donation was over DM10,000.

- At present two new long-term projects are being launched: Combating Tuberculosis in Russia and Medical Assistance Quality Management in Russia.
